Perfect Prom Hairstyles

Prom hairstyles are often gleaned from red carpet events and the celebrities that wear them. Whether the event is an award show or a premier event, a bevy of women don anything and everything from new and trendy to tried and true hairstyles. No matter what hair color, length, or texture a female has, these events can provide an idea of what to try to complete a perfect look for that once in a lifetime event, the high school prom.

Each girl has her own distinctive face shape and unique prom dress. Therefore, finding the perfect prom hairstyle is an essential part of prom preparations. Styling her hair differently can produce a different look each time a girl goes out. Lately, the trend has been for shorter hairstyles with distinctive touches, half updos, and full updos.

Short and Sassy Prom Hairstyles

Shorter hairstyles for prom can be just as glamorous as longer hairstyles. With shorter hair, several different hairstyles can be worn including a short updo or a smooth style. Short hair is defined as anything that comes above the chin.

The Smooth Look

A smooth look is created by sectioning the hair into wide sweeps, including one that sweeps over the forehead from a side part. With the hair gently sculpted around the face, a feminine look with softened features is achieved. A paddle brush is the best hair styling tool for this task. Adding a bit of volume to the top with a little teasing can enhance this hairstyle, while a flat iron can be used to smooth out the edges. For a bit of an edgier look, the sides of the hair can be gently shaped to sit behind the ears.

The Pixie Cut

The pixie cut, also referred to as the boy cut, is super short. Typically, a side part is worn with this style with a low volume of hair on the top. It can also be worn with a crisscross of bangs over the forehead. This hairstyle should only be worn by females with very extremely delicate features since it is difficult to pull off. It totally exposes the entire face and neck. This type of hairstyle can be appealing as well as chic.

The Short Cut with Fringe

For girls with short hair who do not want to fuss much, adding a bit of fringe and layering can go a long way to creating a unique look. The layering softens the look while the fringe adds a bit of glamour to the otherwise straight locks.

The Short Updo

This look is perfect for formal prom gowns. A few hair clips or diamond studded barrettes can be placed carefully so that they lift the hair up to give it more volume. Plus, a bit of mousse placed on the roots which are then blown dry while upside down will also add more volume to the look.

Prom Hair Extensions for Short Hair

With hair extensions, girls with short hair have the opportunity to wear any hairstyle for prom. Available in a variety of different lengths, hair extensions can provide a wavy style, a straight look, a layered style, a chignon look, a curly hairstyle, and more. Plus, professional hair extensions are so good that no one can tell that one is being worn.

Medium Prom Hairstyles

Medium hair length adds a bit more versatility to the hairstyles that can be worn for prom. Obviously, more hair exists and allows a greater number of styles. In fact, most of the hairstyles for longer hair can also be worn by girls with medium-length hair.

Medium Downdos

The creation of loose curls can add a bit of glamour to a hairstyle with sweeping sections. Long, swept-over-to-the-side bangs soften this hairstyle with a touch of femininity. This type of hairstyle goes well with most styles of prom gowns. Therefore, the downdo for a prom can create the perfect look. The only hair styling tools needed are a paddle brush, curling iron, and maybe some hair gel.

Medium Half Updo

The medium half updo is a nice hairstyle that lifts the hair up and away from the face, exposing the softness of the neck as the medium tresses gently cascade down the back of the neck. A wide sweep of bangs from a side part offers a softening effect. For an added touch of glamour, style the hair before pinning it back. Loose curls are the perfect touch for this style.

Medium Updo

The updo for someone with medium-length hair can be formal or casual. The casual updo allows the hair to be styled loosely around the face and neck while lifting it up in an unsettled manner. The formal updo pulls the hair off and up from the face to create a styled look that places every strand of hair strategically to create a well put together look.

Long Prom Hairstyles

Long, flowing locks of hair feature the opportunity to try a number of different hairstyles, all of which can prove to be quite attractive. The hairstyle a girl selects is likely to have something to do with personal preference, the style of the dress, and the type of hair that she has.

Long Flowing Hairstyle for Thin Hair

The long, flowing hairstyle, which adds volume and dimension, can be accomplished in any number of ways.  For fine, flat hair, the best hairstyle is perhaps one in which curls are avoided. Instead, a barrel brush should be used during blow drying to dry the ends upward. A flat iron can then be used to smooth the edges while curling the tips outward ever so much.

Long Flowing Hairstyle for Curly Hair

The long, flowing hairstyle for curly hair combines a gorgeous display of cascading curls with an attractive part. Adding a sweeping fringe of bangs simply sets this look apart from all of the others. In general, the curls should be tighter, although they should not be so tight that they look like ringlets. This type of hairstyle offers an attractive display of loose, flowing curls surrounding the face. This hairstyle has become a classic one that is seen quite often.

Long Deconstructed Ringlets or Waves

For hair that is neither curly nor fine, a hairstyle with long deconstructed ringlets or waves is attractive. Using either hot rollers or setting the hair overnight with large hair rollers allows the hair to form loose or deconstructed ringlets and waves. For girls whose hair holds the curl well, deconstructing or taking the curls apart by gently pulling them apart will create the same look.

Half Updos for Long Hair

The half updo is a hairstyle that is quite effective for the formal atmosphere of a prom. With its versatility, it is possible for several girls to wear half updos while sporting a completely different look from each other.

The half updo that features low volume on top typically features hair that is styled close to the face. With this look, the presence of bangs can promote a softening effect to a girl’s facial features. In general, the bangs should be blunt and even rather than tapered.

For a more casual look, the long tresses can be tied in the back and allowed to flow loosely down the nape of the neck or back, depending on the length of the tresses.

The half updo that features a high volume of hair on top relies less on the presence of bangs for a distinctive look. The top can be styled with curls or sweeps of hair while the remainder flows down the back in long tresses of hair.

Fancy Updos for Long Hair

Updos for long hair span a wide range of choices from a French twist to a tight,

classic bun to a loose bun to sweeps of straight hair to pinned tresses of curls to just about anything imaginable. Some styles will bring out more feminine features if the hair around the face is shaped to the contour of the face, worn with bangs, or styled in small ringlets that cascade ever so gently.

Final Tips

For a professional look, have you hair trimmed at a hair salon. This is a good way to do away with split ends.

Once a style is elected for the prom, regular trims are essential. The hair needs to remain the same length in order for the look to remain the same. Even a difference of an inch or so can change the entire appearance of a particular hairstyle, especially with short or medium-length hair.

Hey! I realize this is somewhat off-topic
however I had to ask. Does running a well-established blog such as yours take a
massive amount work? I am brand new to operating a blog but I do write in my diary every day.
I’d like to start a blog so I will be able to
share my experience and views online. Please let me know if you have any suggestions or tips for brand new aspiring bloggers.
Appreciate it!

This is a rather common occurrence that stems from hair breaking while
you are sleeping. Exfoliation is a great technique to use in order to reveal the healthy skin layers that are hiding underneath the visible skin.
Our hair carries a particular importance when we talk about
human beauty.

First off I want to say awesome blog! I had a quick question which I’d like
to ask if you do not mind. I was curious to know how you
center yourself and clear your mind prior to writing.
I have had trouble clearing my mind in getting my ideas out.
I do enjoy writing however it just seems like the first
10 to 15 minutes are usually wasted just trying to figure out how to begin. Any recommendations or
hints? Cheers!
